Caleb Doyel - Shen Wai International School

Caleb Doyel is an American music educator and team leader who has been based in Shenzhen, China since 2018. With over 13 years of experience in primary school music education, Caleb has been a team lead at Shen Wai International School (SWIS) for four years and has served as the ACE ACAMIS Southern Regional Representative for five years. He has also been an IB Music teacher for 9 years, enriching his pedagogical approach with the principles of international-mindedness and inquiry-based learning. Caleb holds a Bachelor's degree in Music Education from Indiana Wesleyan University and a Master's of Music in Music Education from Capital University, with a focus on the Kodály method.

In 2011, Caleb was honored with the First Year Teacher of the Year award in Yavapai County, Arizona. Caleb has had the privilege of mentoring two student teachers during the 2012-13 and 2013-14 academic years, further enriching his pedagogical approach. His Master's research in the Kodály method has significantly influenced his teaching style, emphasizing the importance of musical literacy and cultural heritage in education.
